How To Apply Wii Skins

Customizing your Wii isn’t as hard as it might seem. In fact applying skins, or vinyl decals as they are referred to as sometimes, is much simpler then other methods such as taking apart your Wii’s case and painting it. It can still be annoying and troublesome if you don’t know what you’re doing though so we decided to make an easy to follow guide to help anyone having trouble.

Wii Skins

What you want to do first is to get some rubbing alcohol and a wet cloth. Then you should rub down the entire case top to bottom, making sure to only use a little rubbing alcohol. You have to do this because if you don’t you will get dust trapped under the skin and it won’t lay down properly which leads to peeling. If you read our other guide you know we recommend taking off the faceplate but you don’t need to do this for the Wii console. This step is important so don’t half ass it.

OK this is where you are going to actually put on Wii skins so get them out. We’re going to start with the top of the console so you need to peel the top skin’s backing off and and the put it back on leaving a small edge to work with. Line up the edge carefully and then apply pressure and seal off the edge with your finger. Now fold it back and remove the rest of the backing and smooth down the skins, applying pressure from one edge to the other. Follow the steps again for the bottom skin. When you’re ready for the faceplate, take off the backing completely and line up the disc try and memory card holes carefully. Apply pressure in the same way as before and make sure to get the edges around the holes in the skin.

That’s all there is to it. This entire guide should have only taken you 5-10 minutes to complete. I hope you enjoyed it and you learned something new. If you need us to cover anything in more detail email us or leave a comment below.
